Friday June 19 2009

School was only two hours. After we went to go use internet to book hostels/ hotels for the weekend. We then went to lunch at the café right by my place and had bomb croque madames. I went home to pack for an hour and get ready for the wine tour. We all met up at the train station and found the bus for the tour. We met Elizabeth. She was a super nice and funny French tour guide. We drove around all the vineyards in Bourgogne for about an hour. It was so beautiful. We stopped at a bunch of cool spots looking at 14th century chateaux that people still lived in. We also go out and walked around where the most expensive wine in the world was grown, Romanée Conti. She said it probably costs around 4 to 5,000 euro. You cannot buy just one bottle. You have to buy that one with 11 others from his different vineyards and it costs about 10,000 euro. Only 5,000 bottles are produced a year from the Romanée Conti vineyard. It was really quite something. Then we headed to the cellar and got to do some tasting. We tried two whites and three reds. The first white was really fruity and not my fav. The second white was more buttery. I liked it. The red I wasn’t a huge fan of until the last one which was pretty good, a 2002 Corton Clos du Rois. We then were taking back into town and I went back to finish packing. Amer came over and we shoved all our stuff in one bag. Then we went to grab some dinner before the dinner and just had sandwiches. The train ride to Lyon was about 2 hours and flew by. We watched eurotrip. Haha. We found our hotel, a cute little tiny place as everything is in France. We decided to nap and chill before exploring the town. Then Amer decided to just sleep the rest of the night cuz he was getting sick:( poopie Lyon….oh well there will always be a next time.
