Thursday June 25, 2009

Another normal day. Patrick enjoyed his nutella doughnut which is always a good sign lol. School was long as always. I went into centre ville for lunch and got my package. My parents had sent me a present of mardi gras beads, a happy birthday beanie baby, party girl headband that lights up, candy, party poppers, and a drinking game kit lol. After the second sessions of classes Amer and I went to Troison D’or, a huge shopping center in Dijon. I needed to find a dress for my birthday. No luck. Oh well. I still have time to shop a little in Paris. Then I headed home for some homework and Madame’c cooking. We had risotto and a tomato avacodo salad thing that was really good. Then she had this huge thing of ham that I had a little of to be polite and a cucumber egg casserole thing that was SOOO good. Then we had our cheese course. After that I went for a run and ran into Meg. We chatted it up for a bit. I went home and wanted to do laundry but it was too late so I showered and decided I wanted to go out and get a drink or go for a walk until it turned midnight, my birthday! Amer met up with me and we walked down Rue Berbisey. We were walking to McCarthy's when we saw Kelsey, Marc, Andrew, and Anna at Crocodile. We joined them for a drink and they took off shortly thereafter. We then went to McCarthy's for a little kir then peaced it home.

Wednesday June 24, 2009

We had an epic bus ride to school with Pat and Emma, being obnoxious Americands and banging around the back of the bus lol. School was long. I had a test that was long and a little difficult. Carol then picked up Amer, Marc and I to go to Bèze to see the grotto. We had a bomb ass lunch for 13 euro preset meal! It was turkey kabobs with veggies with a glass of wine (yes we boozed with Carol!) then chocolate mousse and a coffee! So delicious. We then walked around the town a little and took pictures by the river. Then off to the grotto we went. It was freezing down in the caves but really cool. They had it all lit up. We got to a point where it turned into water and we hopped in this sketchy boat where the lady pulled it long with a rope from the ceiling, yup no motor haha. It was really pretty and cool with all stalagmites. Water kept dripping on me and it kinda smelled. Oh well. After that we walked to the source of the water to the grotto. It was really pretty. Then we headed back to Dijon, kinda a long drive. I then had my two hour session with Carol for presentations/ grammar or whatever. Then I went home to do some homework. Madame prepared dinner. It was delicious: quiche, smoked salmon with a vingarette salad, then cheese and an expresso little tart. During the middle of my dessert the doorbell rang. It was Carol. So we all sat and talked for a while. I know real fun lol. Then I took off to go for a run. I don’t know why but tonight I felt like I could run for days. I ran all the way to the animal park the walked around a pet the horsies and donkies. The I ran back and saw Amer on his way out to go running. We chatted for a bit deciding whether or not we wanted to go out. I told him to text me later. I returned home for some sit ups and lame ass exercises with water bottles cuz im so desperate for weights! I took a quick shower and did my homework then slept.

Tuesday June 23, 2009

I woke up late this morning for school. Way to start my day lol. Boring as usual. Went to lunch at the Italian place next to my apartment and had a salad. After class, Amer and I went to go buy our tickets to Paris, only 3 euros with the pass. Yesss. Then I went to the Musée Magnin Dijon for the presentation I have at Carol’s tomorrow. It was pretty cool. Then I headed over to McDonalds to mooch on their wifi and figure out dinner reservations and where to go out in Paris. I had to hurry home for dinner. It was steak and Spanish rice. My Madame is such a little cook. For dessert we had cheese and strawberries and bananas. So delicious. I headed back to McDonalds for more Wifi to plan the weekend and my hopefully I’ll get to stay longer itinerary after Dijon.

Monday June 22, 2009

School yet again. For lunch we went into the center of town and I had a bomb lasagna and salad. We then took off to go look for a museum to speak about during our grammar session. No luck. And we were late to class. Oh well. After class I headed to monoprix to replenish my banana stock. Then I went on a quick jog. Then it was time to go to McDonalds and used their wifi for about 2 hours trying to figure out this weekend. We have to buy train tickets tomorrow and figure out a place to stay. I hurried home to a lovely meal prepared by my Madame. It was some kind of fish with potatoes and salad. We finished with cheese and melon. I went back to my room to study ugh. I finished my hw, watched some tv on my computer and went to bed.

Sunday June 21, 2009

We woke up early on our own as usual. I made us breakfast which was sooo good haha. Oh eggs. We then utilized the last few minutes of free internet that we had, got ready and packed. We had to bus it back to Nice to catch the train to Marseille. Then Marseille to Lyon. Meanwhile I had noticed that my DVD case with all my DVDs were gone! I freaked out and we called the hotel in Lyon. They had them. But we only had a 40 min layover in Lyon. Could we make it ? We ran out of the train into the first taxi we saw. The guy was from Tunisia and loving the musical festival that was going on. He decided to play us some "American" music for lovers?? haha It was hilarious!!! He BLASTED it in the taxi and me and Amer were DYING....i will post the video soon! BUt we finally go the DVDs and he was nice enough to take us back. He asked for Amers number and email cuz he wants to come to LA someday. And he really wanted us to come to Tunisia. He said Amer would be a prince and I a princess on top of one of his ten camels?? I was cracking up haha oh man what a taxi ride. SO yes we missed our train because of this and had to make a new reservation on the faster and better train for a whopping 1.50 euro. haha oh I love my eurail pass! We finally made it back in Dijon around midnight and had to walk far back because the bus routes were all messed up because of the huge music festival that takes place all over France. I was so tired and went straight to bed.

Saturday June 20, 2009

We wake up at the crack of dawn to get on the train. We barely make it in time and hop on rite before it takes off. We were off to Marseille. We watched some OC on the way haha. Finally we got there and had lunch. Then back on the train to Nice. We got to Nice and the weather was AMAZING! I needed to change into shorts immediately. It was so hot. We then took the bus to Monaco. WOW talk about money. There were yachts, bentleys, and lambos everywhere you turn. We checked into our hotel which was really nice and had a mini kitchen. We decided to invest in some breakfast foods from the market. So we did after changing into shorts. We then decided to go shopping. The only decent store that we could afford was Zara. I found nothing. Amer found some pants. We then walked by Chanel, LV, YSL, Escada, and the huge casino that we tried to walk into but got stopped because Amer was wearing a tank top haha. We then went back to the hotel and showered and I skyped home for a while. It was getting late and we were starving. We finally were ready to go and downstairs at 10pm asking the front desk where to eat. They called us a cab that took us to Pizzart. AMAZING. The place looked like a club with the dim lights and zebra print couches around the tables. We started with smoked salmon and prawns which were delicious. I had some kind of pasta in a marinara sauce that was baked that was so good. Amer had gnocchi courtesy of my amazing recommendation haha. It all went well with our pinot grigio. We then headed back to the hotel to pop champagne but were too tired to hit up the casino :( oh well. Theres always a next time.

Friday June 19 2009

School was only two hours. After we went to go use internet to book hostels/ hotels for the weekend. We then went to lunch at the café right by my place and had bomb croque madames. I went home to pack for an hour and get ready for the wine tour. We all met up at the train station and found the bus for the tour. We met Elizabeth. She was a super nice and funny French tour guide. We drove around all the vineyards in Bourgogne for about an hour. It was so beautiful. We stopped at a bunch of cool spots looking at 14th century chateaux that people still lived in. We also go out and walked around where the most expensive wine in the world was grown, Romanée Conti. She said it probably costs around 4 to 5,000 euro. You cannot buy just one bottle. You have to buy that one with 11 others from his different vineyards and it costs about 10,000 euro. Only 5,000 bottles are produced a year from the Romanée Conti vineyard. It was really quite something. Then we headed to the cellar and got to do some tasting. We tried two whites and three reds. The first white was really fruity and not my fav. The second white was more buttery. I liked it. The red I wasn’t a huge fan of until the last one which was pretty good, a 2002 Corton Clos du Rois. We then were taking back into town and I went back to finish packing. Amer came over and we shoved all our stuff in one bag. Then we went to grab some dinner before the dinner and just had sandwiches. The train ride to Lyon was about 2 hours and flew by. We watched eurotrip. Haha. We found our hotel, a cute little tiny place as everything is in France. We decided to nap and chill before exploring the town. Then Amer decided to just sleep the rest of the night cuz he was getting sick:( poopie Lyon….oh well there will always be a next time.

Thursday June 18, 2009

Waking up was hard this morning. Ugh. School. Class was boring as usual. Got our tests back. Did okay. For lunch, we went into town to get some errands done and ate these bomb sandwiches in Monoprix. We tried to nap but it didn’t work out too well haha. So we head back to campus for another two hours of language class and an hour of French sociology. Yay haha. After class, we went to the train ticket place and got our tickets for the weekend to Lyon and Nice for 6 euro!!!!! So great love the eurail pass! After that I was so tired so I went back and took a nap before dinner. Madame made steak and peas with the usual cheese and cherries for dessert. I was still kinda tired so I turned on the OC on my computer and passed out.

Wednesday June 17 2009

The test this morning was a little over an hour and not too bad, just long. Hope I did well! For lunch we all went into town and ate at this ehh café. We returned to campus to use the internet and figure our escapades for the weekend then headed to class. Sociology was so boring and long. After I went to Collins for our little grammar sesh. He showed up late with the rest of the group who had gone to the grotto which was fine. We had our sesh then I went home to do some hw and eat dinner with Madame. It was terryaki chicken and rice. So bomb. She then had bought me a raspberry tart for dessert. We talked for a while and I helped her clear the table. I went for a quick jog with Amer again. The weather was perfect. I return to shower and get ready to go out. We start at MacCarthy’s as usual. We then ended up at a karaoke bar, Honky Dory! It was so fun! Patrick and Kelsey jumped right up. Amer and I sang 98 degrees but it was a totally different version and we sucked! We later redeemed ourselves with Backstreet boys- Everybody. We had a great time with the whole group and laughed so hard.

Tuesday June 16 2009

School again this morning. For lunch I went to the restaurant across the street and used the internet to catch up on stuff. The last two hours of class were hard as usual. Then we had sociology which was really boring. Afterwards Amer decided he needed a hair cut so we got off the bus a few stops before my apartment and looked at two hair places and their prices. He picks the cheaper looking one. The ladies were really nice. I helped him tell them how to cut it haha. He wanted some layers and right to his shoulders. It looked good and it was only 18 euro. Then we headed back home to change for our jog. He brought me a banana cuz we were kinda hungry. We ran the long road again but this time the gate at the end was open. It was such a cute little park inside so we ran to the end of that. There was an entire little zoo at the end including min horses, goats, deer, peacock, pigs, it was sooo cool!! It so surreal to think that were going on jogs and to school and basically living in France. I love it. We head back home cuz our Madames serve dinner at 7:30. I come back and no one is home. Its 745 and Im starving! She finally came home. We had a slice of locks and salad then scrambled eggs with cucumber? It was good haha. Then the usual cheese and cherries for dessert. Then it was time to study for my test tomorrow!
